Sweet wagon!
I think it'd look even better if you painted the sideskirt pieces body color.
No cruise control?

Hey guys, thanks for the compliments. I have a 93 SS also and the wagon is definitely the cooler of the two.

yes,
everything was swapped into/onto a postal wagon.

Absolutely beautiful!!! I'd drive that wagon any day of the week! You're are indeed one lucky bastard to have a car look so clean & sleeper styled.

That doesnt look like a postal wagon, it has the raised roof.....
there was a car exactly like that on craigslist in sacramento or somewhere in cali a year or so ago.

Did you swap firewalls too? Seems like a lot of work to move the brake booster over.

I didn't do the swap. I just bought it that way, but yes, everything was swapped.

and by everything do you mean its a jdm wagon registered as a postalwagon?

Yeah, I really doubt that car was a postal wagon originally...

The spedo looks different. Is it km/h or does it go to 160 mph? USDM is normally 140, right?

nope. I mean it is a perfectly legal postal wagon that was swapped with parts from a nearly identical JDM wagon.

How did they do the high roof?
Posted: Wed Nov 07, 2007 3:32 am
by MannyMohawk#5
well, it's using the JDM hatch, so I'm assuming they drilled out the spot welds on the old roof and welded the JDM roof in it's place.

It looks like it would have been easier to swap VINs on a stock JDM wagon (which is not legal) - as getting all of the JDM parts (exterior, interior, engine, lines....) & then installing them on the wagon is such a pain you have to be crazy to do it & once it is done you'd have so much blood in the car you will not sell it....
I hope the easy way out was not taken.
Whatever it is - it does look very nice!

honestl bxss, why would it even matter. JDM legacies are no less safe in reality, what were the differences beside the bumper beams?
Are you jsut worrying 'bout the legality?

I'd worry about the Legality of it more than the "safety".
I had to notch my bumper beam to fit my FMIC, it is less safe than stock but I could care less because a cop can't give me a headache for doing that mod.
It is not leagal to swap Vins from 1 car to another.
The glass, bumpers,... , are just silly details.
In many parts of the country a Vin swap may go unnoticed, but here in NYC (& in other big cities) the PD has "autocrime" units that can impound your car for investigation.
If anything is wrong with it (altered vin) say bye bye to the car & possibly your freedom.
If everything was swapped over to a RHD postal wagon (red flag here in NYC as we never had those over here) than all would be good here, as the Vin on the dash & firewall would not have been altered.

I'm sure you have postal wagons in NY country. I've seen them in CT.

Well, if that's truly a USDM postal wagon that's swapped, then it is by far THE most extensively-swapped car on this board.
