tires rub

The wheels that I have my winter tires on, Michelin Artic Alpin 195/60/15, are 15X6.5 with a 38 offset. Rear tires rub. My summer tires did also, on these wheels. I realize now that the 38 offset is the problem. Paid $65 ea. for the wheels three years ago. I don't want to go to 16" wheels. I am thinking about purchasing some 15X6.5 48 offset wheels for my winter tires. Would the tires still rub? Sorry for the long link to the wheel.

I doubt it unless your car is lowered. What are the rubbing on? The spring perch?

It is lowered about an inch. The offset is 38 and it is rubbing on the fender outboard side, like it would with an offset so much less than stock. I placed an order with tirerack for some wheels with a 50 offset. I was going to get some with a 48 offset, they guaranteed they would not rub, but went with the 50 offset for insurance.

Ok, I just bought some 15X6.5 50 offset wheels and my Michelin Artic Alpin tires are mounted on them. Got rid of the rubbing problem. Now, if it will only snow!
The wheels I had my winter tires on before are for sale, $130 for the set, in The Parts Shed.

Hmmm... So what is the limit on offset before it will rub?

Subarus are generally recommended to run a 45ish to 50 offset...

Yeah...Schwabs is not the place to go for wheels...
Or even tires...
Their service is alright, but their tire prices are rediculous

From my research (" do a search you idiot"), it sounds like Subarus prefer 48-55. My stock wheels are 55.
