so i was in a hell of a accident a few years ago. i got into a car with a druink driver who said that he was, sober yada yada yada.....anyway we were in a 2000 gmc yukon. we hit a 2006 chev suburban. the police measured the skid marks to the point of impact with the suburban to be 75 feet. we totalled both vehicles. our vehicle stopped but pushed the parked suburban 50ft.

i have been trying to figure all the speeds through different forensic calculators, and havnt been able to come up with any sold numbers, mostly because of skid marks stopped due to the impact.

we skid 75 feet, hit a suburban an additional 50 feet.
the motor dropped below the car we were

the driver said that he was only going 25 to 30 mph, the speed limit was 25mph. i insited that we were going at least 55 mph. if anyone can give me an idea of how fast we were going i would appriciate it.

also does anyone have any idea at the speed in which the airbags activate in a 2000 gmc yukon. because both driver and passenger bags went off.

the total of damages between the yukon, suburban and the truck that the suburban also hit was almost 100k. just so happends the suburban we hit was like 65 k it self(talk about fully loaded)

anyway if you guys could help itd be great

Force = Mass x acceleration

5500lbsx 50 ft/sec
But you have to take into account all vehicles have crumple zones to absorb impact forces.

30mph will not be fast enough to push a suburban 50 ft. The average parking spot is 10x20. this would be the equivalent of 2.5 parking spaces.

Your 55mph would be closer to the truth than his 30mph.

After rereading your post, there is no way you guys were going 25-30... That is way too long for stopping from 25-30mph...

We had an 01 Suburban 2500 with a 6.0l V8 4wd LT and it could stop faster than that at such a low speed...

yea thats what im saying, its been one shitty shitty ordeal over the past three years. hopefully it will settle on friday. unfortunately it has ruined our friendship. but oh well if hes nott willing to assume responsibilty, who cares. the shitty thing is i was in one really shitty car accident a few months before that one. thank god the insurance company responsible, is responsible for both...

heres the shortest story i can write about both.

oct29 04 i was on my way to work(carr subaru). i was parked in traffic. this girl was talking on her cell phone when she hit the car behind me at 55 mph and then that car hit me(in my NA legacy), then i hit the car in front of me. the girl whom was responsible was in a suburban, and we were all parked. smashed up my rear end, and then the front bumper went right into a jacked up blazer with a huge tow hitch. it screwed me up pretty bad, Head, Neck, and caused some serious inner ear dizziness disorder.

i was getting a million times better and nearly ready to go back to work.

feb 20 05. i had been at a bar with some friends, and then a guy who showed up whom i hadnt seen since high school, he had one drink at the bar. then he said lets go to a mutual friends house. we started driving there and he was perfectly fine to drive. on the way there he started driving crazy. we all asked him to stop. we went a around a corner and hit another suburban....see above.....anyway ended up at the local university hospital for quite some time. etc....its some serious bull shit. either way he said in his affidavit that he was only going 25-30 mph. its obviously not the case. just wanted to see what you guys thought about our speed.
