no wait, its located right between the front bumper and the wheel at the passenger's side. I'm not sure if its hooked up to the intake but it has a black tube connected to it at the top.

i think its this one:

is it suppose to be empty?

haha remove that P.O.S.

it's just an intake silencer and it robs you of maybe ~1-2 HP lol. everyone usually removes that and it makes your car sound cool. like it has a nice grunt to it ha.

Snorkus...
haha.

Thanks for the info I'll remove it as sson as i get home today. So I just completely remove it and that's it? Do i need to seal off the tubes that's connected to the tank?

does anyone have a pic of what kind of coffee cup they use? I've searched and everyone talked about coffee cup and assume its suppose to be some kind of common sense ><. so basically this black box is what i'm trying to remove and replace it with the "coffee cup"? In this image the guy tries to replace it with a cocktail shaker instead of a coffee cup. this is a better choice?

do NOT seal off that tube once you remove it. that's where you get your intake air from!! lol.

Oh, yeah, it sounds really great when you get it done - you can hear your recirculation value at work... a poor man's blowoff value. So cool...

Good luck!

That's a very nice looking SS, by the way. What's your color code?

I removed the snorkus and got a really irritating resonance on the highway.

The I opened up the snorkus and modified it so the only thing left was the portion of the pipe that attaches directly to the airbox. That got rid of the resonance, and flows much better than the whole box would.

that's not mine ><. i pulled it from matt on his post "cold air intakes..."

I just removed my snorkus few hours ago and did a lil test drive. ya i could definately hear the low growling noise its cool!

with just snorkus removed there's a bit of resonance noise it was annoying so i used a Chinese rice measuring cup and cut 45 degrees opening facing the front. it got rid of the resonance much better.

I my car the hole for the snorkus is kidney shaped. I sawed out the hole on my intake box to match that shape and then put window sealing tape (the kind you put around windows in the winter if they are leaking air) around the kidney shaped hole on the chassis. That filled in the half inch between the two and the airbox keeps it in place. That way no warmer engine bay air is sucked in. I haven't noticed "resonance" but the rest of the car has lot of NV because of suspension mods et al.

Funny you "noticed" the storkus. You shouldn't be able to see it unless your fender liner is missing. You'll want to replace the fender liner to keep the water out of the intake...

Cheers,

my fender line is missing... due to a small accident at driver's fender side and it slide through... ripping the whole front bumper off. that's how i noticed a empty air tank behind the bumper :o

btw did you take photos of your kidney shaped snorkus? I'm worried that my rice measuring cup is too far behind the bumper and is sucking in warm air as you have suggested.

No pics. As long as it is pulling air execlusively from the fender well that's all you can do.

You need to get to a WY and get a liner IMHO ASAP. I mean we live underwater here in the great north(west)...

sorry what's a NV, WY?

i'm waiting for ICBC to get back on my claim cuz the other guy ran a red light. I'm hoping there's a traffic camera at that intersection cuz if i can't prove it i'll have to pay big $$ ><.

WY = Wrecking Yard
NV = Noise Vibration

At a WY the liner is $25...
Water in your engine, priceless...

fender liner only $25? ohhhh fender liner... i just googled it up and its the black rubbish thing that covers ontop of the wheel right? If it is I do have that, I just don't have the front bumper, would that be okay?

Yeah, a picture would help.

Sounds like you're in duct tape mode. Sorry to hear that.
