My first post, its a little long.......

I just bought a 92 legacy wagon 4eat. When i first looked at the car it had been sitting for a while it fired up and ran but really ruff. i took it for a short drive and it had a sever lack of power and bucked accasionaly, I figured it was just bad fuel where it had been sitting for a while.

When i went to pick it up I put some fresh fuel in it (it was pretty much empty). It fired up and i let it run for a while before i trying to load it on the trailer because it was a colder day. While i was fooling around with the sticky shifter trying to get it in gear it died and would not restart. I pushed it on the trailer and drug it home and stuck it in the garage. I unhooked the battery and put it on charge for a while and tryed again, it started perfectly, but all it will do is rev to 2000rpm for 10 seconds then die. Playing with with the throttle just seemed to make it die faster. I pulled the trouble codes and got a 13 and 23, so i unhooked the battery again (mostly because its in my garage) and went in the house to find out what the codes were. I didn't know where to find the cam sensor, so i just unpluged the MAF hooked the battery back up and tryed it again. I still won't stay running on its own, but i can keep it running with the throttle now, it shakes at a constant speed, but it runs.

This makes me think the MAF is bad, but i'm unfamiliar with Subaru stuff. This is a car i bought cheap to drive for the winter, and i don't want to put anything i don't have to into it.

Reset the ECU by pressing the brake pedal while the battery's disconnected, plug the MAF sensor in, start the car, and if the CEL is on, read the trouble codes again.

I tried reseting the ecu and reconecting the maf like you said. The car went back to running for ten seconds and dieing out. To me it acts kind of like it is starving for fuel. After starting the car five or six times the cel didn't come on while the engine was running, only after it had stalled, but i checked the codes anyway. I got 13 and 22 this time. I think they may have something to do with all the shaking and shuddering it does as it stalls. It allways starts and runs the very best untill it starts to stall out, so i don't think the timing is out.

Should i keep trying?

Note: I'm not sure if i got it out right in my first post, but i got the 13 and 23 codes before i unpluged the maf and managed to get the car to run by playing with the throttle.

Yeah, I realized you got those codes but I wanted you to clear them to make sure they were both fresh.

That's odd that you reset the ECU and never got a CEL (the CLE always lights up when the engine is stalled) but still had codes...

But anyway. Subaru's recommended approach is to deal with the lowest-numbered code first, and it sure seems like your ECU's telling you there's a problem with the camshaft position sensor.

If you check out the stickies in the Stuff You Need to Know and/or Engine forums you should be able to find the factory service manual for the engine which will give you the diagnosis procedure.
