i was reading a thread that went over droping a tranny to do a cluch job but now i cannt seem to find it. anybody now were its at?

how do i put the clucth fork back in? kind of like how i took it out. get the tranny close to the motor and find a way to stick the fork back in?

i was more concernd about front axles and discouneting the shift linkage from the shifter

taking out the driveshafts for a cluth install is not something you have to do if you are only doing a clutch.

to take out the shift assy. you have to take the middle part of your center console appart (the top just clips off) revealing a bunch of screws you have to take off.
the next step would be taking the crossmember off, when I had to do this it took wayyyy too long, an impact is a must if doing this.
driveshaft has to come off too (15 min job) 2 bolts on the center and 4 from the d/s to the rearend.
seperating the trans from the engine may become a problem aslo, its really just luck.
I would get a friend to help you shake the trans from under the car and with a 2x4 pry the trans away from the engine (I actually stood on top of my engine while doing this, I wouldent reccomend it but it worked for me) just enough to put a clutch in, which is about all the further you can get it with the driveshafts in.

make sure to loctite all bolts on the flywheel and clutch, unless you want to do this all over in like a month lol.

I noticed you are running a td04, how did you like installing it?

I think it's easier to move the engine forward than to drop the transmission out.

the throw out bearing seems to be binding up and my cluctch kit comes with instructions to pop off the throw out bearing off of the pressure plate. i have everthing out of the way and unbolted but the tranny wont come all the way back

Did you undo the clutch fork? On pull-type transmissions the fork is linked the throwout bearing.

You have to use a 10mm allen socket to remove the plug that holds the clutch fork axle in. Then you thread a bolt into the clutch fork axle (I vaguely remember if being an M6 bolt) and pull on the bolt to remove the axle. Once the clutch fork axle is out you can pull up on the fork to separate it from the throwout bearing.

my books doesnt say anything about undoing a bolt. the insturtions that came with my clutch kit say to put a screwdriver in between the bearing and the pressure plate. were can i find the bolt?

i can only get the tranny about half an inch or so from the motor

Sounds like those instructions are for a regular push-type clutch. Turbos are different.

Part 10 is the plug I'm talking about. Use a 10mm allen to get it out.

Part 12 is the clutch fork axle I'm talking about. Thread a long M6 bolt (most bolts with 10mm heads at M6) into it (the threaded hole is exposed when you remove the plug) and pull on the bolt to pull the axle out.

Once you've removed the axle, you can pull up on the fork to separate it from the throwout bearing.

tranny is out and cracked fly wheee. not sure if it will machine out i missed the machine shop by about 10 minutes

the tdo4 wasnt to bad. it started to go well when i finaly figure everthing out.

uhm stick the top part through the opening in the top of the transmission, then shove the bottom part on the round nub so it sticks...the wires on the back of the fork should hold it in place. You might put a little grease on the pivot point..

i posted to soon, i when and figured it out like 5 mins. there was no wire to retain the throwout bearing, i think are you think of a push type clutch. the only problem is i cant get the passenger's side balljoint back in for some reason

You've got to whack that sumnabich with a hefty hammer and alot of swing. Just take aim at the control arm directly under the ball joint., and hit hard.
