92 SS Wagon Automatic - no tranny

I bought a nice Winestone 92 Turbo Wagon that has no tranny...nothing there at all.
It had an automatic....I assume with a 3.9 R&P.
Can I swap in a tranny from a NA Legacy? If so which year?
From Josh's sticky below...it looks like a 92-94 NA Legacy 4EAT has the correct 3.9 R&P.... ??

I've got a couple of NA auto trannies sitting around from 90-94 Legacys, but don't know if they're from 90-91 or 92-24. How can I tell?

You can look at the number on the transmission, and compare it to the documentation in the part catalogue I posted in the stuff you need to know forum

Downloaded the parts catalogue and can see different part numbers for different years...but no info on which R&P each tranny has.
How did you determine that the 92-94s automatics have a 3.9 and 90-91s have 4.11 ??

It's in the factory service manuals I have. The sections that have that info are not on my site.

A good turbo 4EAT seems really hard to find....in fact, ANY good 4EAT is hard to find....but chances are better from the NA cars.
Can I get away with one from a NA 92-94 Legacy?

Probably.
Complete 4.11 setup

I have a complete tranny, driveshaft, and rear diff....out of a 91 Legacy. I'll check the rear diff ratio....but, from our discussion here, they should all be 4.11 matching R&Ps.
Would prefer to find a tranny with a 3.9, but since I already have the set, ...the price is right.
Does it become substantially bigger job to replace the drive shaft and rear diff....as well as the tranny? or worth waiting to find a 3.9 tranny?

It's not overly difficult to replace the rear differential, but it'll probably take you an hour or two to do.
The biggest pain is getting the rear diff down so you can remove the axles. I think I removed the long lower bolt/pin that holds the knuckle to the lateral links to give me enough clearance to pull the axles off the splines on the rear diff.
If you do swap rear diffs, I'd recommend replacing the cover seal/gasket, as well as the o-rings & gaskets for the axle stubs/covers.
