A year and a half ago, I installed a QTP cut out just after the rear axle, such that it allowed a straight pipe to just under the back bumper.

This could bypass the final silencer with two out pipes.

With it off it ran quieter, at open it is louder and the spool up is noticeably better.

However, a few months ago the butterfly plate blew out, so it is all loud now.

The QTP site advises that the valve could be run at any opening from closed.

They advised that I could send it back and for $30 they would repair it and send it back. That wasn't my concern, which was how long would it take for the next one to fail? After all. the heat and vibrations on the rivets holding the plate to the shaft are something else again when open.

So I decided not to replace the cut out. Recent Corvettes have by- passes on the exhaust, which would be reliable but the time and the expense would be too much.

Anyone else had some experience with the QTP. ????

I don't have any experience with cutouts of any brand, but just to throw a few ideas out there...

Is the plate and shaft the same material? If so, why not have it welded instead of rivets?

How large are the rivets? Large enough you could replace them with a bolt and nut, a bit of red loctite would keep them in there.

Just posing some possibilities out there. I'd think that there's got to be a way to fix it without having to send it back.
