D2 Racing Coilovers - Any Experiences?

So... I was over at Rallitek the other day... Just mindin my own business lol...

And am trying to figure out what I want for a suspension setup...

I have about 1k to play with and, with out mentioning price, asked Davie about coilovers for a 91 SS...

He showed me those and gave me a price.

BUT, I have searched and havent found any LCO member who has used them, on the other hand a lot of Nasioc guys like them...

Any thoughts or experiences... BTW my last setup was KYB GR2s and OEM WRX Springs, good handling but I was going to spend some time at PIR this summer and have one shot at getting a good suspension setup.

Any discussion is welcome... Im just waiting for the "Why do you want coilovers?" question lol jk

But I'm not commited to any one setup, I was just wondering if anyone had thoughts...

Thanks guys
Spence

I was also considering KYB AGXs and Ground Control Sleeves... Any thoughts on that setup?

I believe a member on this board had D2's that fell apart after a short while.

In essence, they're shit. if you want a coilover that's going to last look at RCE Tarmac II's, many WRX guys have those installed and report great results.

You'll need to save about $800 more; but you could spend $1000 now and then $2000 later to do it right or just $2000 now.

Cool... Thanks for lettin me know! After some closer looking on Nasioc... I'm not going to get them.

But does anyone know how AGXs with GC Sleeves are?

There's a thread about this - search "Jamal's blanket suspenson" thread.

I'm going with GC and AGX's down the line but evidently Koni's and GC sleeves are a bit better.

The nice thing about the GC product is that you can work with them to get the right spring rate for what you hope to accomplish.

Check out that thread...

I have read that thread about 5-6 times today...

But I was wondering if anybody had actually used them...

Can you start with AGXs and convert them with the koni inserts?

Yes, I guess the inserts for both AGX and Koni are same/same. So you can "upgrade" over time and keep the inserts. So since I'm running AGX's I'll start there first.

Probably won't be until this summer when I do. So if you decide to take the plug write it up in reviews.

The trick is knowing what kind of spring to ask for. I haven't figured that out yet - I'll probably call them and tell them what I plan to do with the car and go from there.

If you can find the D-specs, it would be a good way to go. They seem to be around the same price as AGXes and are much better and there is an application for the GC so they'll work with your car.

For springs, a set of whitelines may be less than sleeves. Then if you have the money, get a pair of swaybars. If money were no object I'd get the 22mm front and rear whitelines. However a 20mm 2.5GT front bar costs a lot less. I still need to borrow a stock wrx rear bar and see how far I have to bend the tire well for them to fit.

What are D-specs?

I have about a grand to throw into suspension... not including sway-bars and the like....
