Glad some of you people get the idea of what it's like up here. I live in freakin ALASKA man... I'm all for global warming, my house is above where the water would be.
BTW in winter I use a 0w/40 synthetic oil.

Hasn't dropped below 20F here yet. w00t!

Aren't oils with high viscosity ranges much more vulnerable to sheer forces and subsequent breakdown? I generally stick to 10W-30, unless it gets REALLY cold, then I'll go to 5W-20.

today the high was 20F, low tonight is 10F, battery is a little slow sometimes, but the car runs as smooth as ever once its warmed up atleast once that day

i run 10w-30 all year, rights now there is a little bit of 15w-40 in it. i ran out of oil last time i filled it up so i just threw that in there, but im not complaining, its quiet once it warms up

I lived in Winnipeg for a while.

After returning to Vancouver, someone would ask what the summer was like.

"Don't know-I was only there for 11 months." :D

But the classic story was that George who was working with me had been transferred from Toronto and in late September complained about the dropping temp. I said he shouldn't complain because he had lived in the "cold" climate of Toronto. The colder it got-the more he complained.

Then for a week it never got any warmer than 35 below, and with no wind an ice fog settled over the city such that you could barely see.

Didn't go out to lunch at anywhere decent and ate in the dreadful cafeteria.

Then the weather changed and we got in George's car ro go to Champs for lunch. On the way the radio gave the weather report as "Finally- clear and sunny, the sky is blue, there is no wind, the ice-fog has gone and it is 18 below."

At that point, George starts to open his window, and I said "What the hell are you doing--it's 18 below!!"

George said "If it is this hot now what's it going to like when summer comes?" :-D

The official low that winter was 49 F below--no windchill BS.

For the other Americans on here...

-38 degrees Celsius = -36.4 degrees Fahrenheit
-18 degrees Celsius = -0.4 degrees Fahrenheit
-43 degrees Celsius = -45.4 degrees Fahrenheit

Hahaha thank you Google Converter.

Oh and Juice91si, that is COLD AS BALLS!! Lol. Have fun in that.

Wind chill is an arithmetic adjustment contrived to sensationalise weather reports on TV or radio.
