Need Some Wheel Suggestions

Post by livestrong14 »

Hey guys,

I am wondering what kind of wheels you would all suggest for my plans. I want a set of wheels that will be good for daily driving, auto-x events, track days, and can work at the drags.

Looking at anything 5X100, and 17X7-17X8

What offsets would you guys suggest? I don't think I'll be able to run much more than a 215 tire. Probably going to end up with a set of 215X45X17's

Any help or advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks

New, I'd recommend one of the lightweight Rotas. +53 on a 17x7.5" should fit with a 215, but it'll be close.

Used, go for the STI BBS wheels, if you can afford 'em. I picked up a set and, for the price, they're the most affordable forged wheels anywhere in a 17x7.5" that are 5x100. Strong, pretty, light and still affordable.

Interested to see what your budget range is though.

pfff. I'll never go narrower than 225.

Might as well pick up some 04 sti wheels. They're 17x7.5, +53, and come with 225/45-17s.

+55 is the ideal offset. Most oem wheels narrower than 7" are +55. With wider wheels you need to go down slightly to clear the strut. OEM 7-8.5" wheels are +53. You shouldn't go lower than +48.

Any lower and you will have to do a lot of fender rolling and will destroy wheel bearings, especially if you're doing track days and auto- x with any frequency.
