My Potential Build List

Okay... So... Since I have an extra ej22t... I was think about doing a build on it.

Here is the shortblock list:

22t Block = Already have it
2.5L Crankshaft (22t+2.5l crank = 2.35L Engine) = Not sure yet
Wiseco Forged Pistons (w/ 8.5:1 Compression) = $600 ish
Eagle Rods = $400

Now... On the heads... I'm still trying to decide... Either have an oil line machined in on some SOHC 2.5L heads... Or just go with DOHC ej20g heads.
Port and Polished... = Not sure yet

STi Yellow-Top Injectors (550cc) = $200?
90-94 NA Fuel Rails = Junkyard... $10?
255lph HP Walbro Fuel Pump = $100
TurboXS MBC = $50
Check Valve (FCD) = $10

To start with, a Perfect Power = From a friend like $100
Eventually either a Link or Autronic Standalone... I'm still considering this though.

Either a FXT TMIC or an AWIC... Not sure, depends what I find.
Now, on a Turbo... Probably a VF-12 OR td05-16g... Both fairly similar in size... And I have heard good things about the vf-12 from kleinkid. About 18-20psi boost... = $300 (for turbo) & $100 (for IC)

If I go with the FXT TMIC I'm going to rig up a secondary windsheild washer tank... That will hold water and a switch inside for an IC spray. I'll use a high-pressure jet to spray it over the ic...

Thats the engine portion...

Suspension will probably be something like:

Tokico Struts w/ Ground Control Coilover Kit
F/R STBs
Whiteline sway bars
Whiteline end links

Now, the transmission...

I'm not sure... I'm probably looking at a decent amount of power, so I want to do it right on the tranny without spending a fortune (fortune = 6mt) and I want it Daily Driver compatible (not dog-box, and I know that it wont be putting out that much power to need it),

How would a 5mt be with an RA gear set?

And definitely a rear lsd... Probably an lsd center diff to.

What do yall think? I'm kinda leaning toward the ej20g heads... But the tranny...

And this will be over the course of a year with the build...

How much power does this sound like it could make?

So what am I looking at? 2500-3000 ish? Over the course of a year and a half?

All will be done in steps... First Suspension, Then IC and MBC and FCD, then Fuel Upgrades, then Turbo, then EM,

LASTLY the Shortblock and Heads... Well, kinda, I'm gonna start collecting parts now. And see where I'm at.

Well, considering an Autronic is $2500 alone...probably a bit more

RA gearsets are like $1200 too...

And then you have to factor in labor to all of that.

The major EM upgrade would come way later...
And I'm not set on a tranny yet...

Yeah, factor labor... If I need it... By the time the engine build comes around, I hope to have a few auto tech classes down. Hopefully...

But how does the list sound? like a sound build or are there major holes?

Fairly sound...but I think you should factor in about another $1000 for little stuff that crops up...

And building an engine like that is not for the faint of heart...or inexperienced.

And you might want to do something about brakes first...

Which should be long before you do any engine stuff...

I'd say plan for at least $5000. There's always stuff that comes up.....usually it's a bit more then expected.

While the list is fairly complete, good luck getting all that shit together while paying bills and working. I've been trying to do that same list for about 2 years now. good luck.

Would a V4 STi 4.444 Tranny & Suretrack Rear LSD/axle set-up work for you?
If it would give me a PM as I have this available.

I'm a noob, but my build is underway.
I had put together a list like yours of what my build would cost, now that's it's almost done I can give you a little idea of what my build was like and what it cost.

I think the bigest thing that you can easily overlook is that when you tear down an engine you don't put it back together with old seals and whatnot, so here's the detailed list of the engine basics that I used in my build, which BTW is all original replacement. Also I shoped around for a long time for these parts and I don't think you'll find cheaper.
