How secure is the coolant tank? From the pictures I don't really see how it'd be very secure, but maybe I'm missing something.

very secure, i'll finish writing/uploading and give details later.

But for now..
it's bolted into the regular spot just like the stock mounting setup, except you have a longer screw like in the photos for the tank to slide out on, then you secure THAT on either side with a tubing of your choice cut so that it keeps the tank in place and prevents it from both directions.

i guess i should be more specific
i used aluminum tubing that fit over the screw, which did my quoted words.
it went on either side of the tank (when threaded on the screw) and prevented movement.
so yeah, as long as the screw fits inside the tubing nicely

oh, and i have this coolant tank now...

because my old stock one busted to pieces because of the slinky hose... and yeah

And having the hoses stretched out away from their original mounting point doesn't cause extra stress on them at all?

I'm wondering if that's why your stock tank broke...

it was, like i said i dont have this setup anymore.
if people do this they just need need NEED to get a radiator hose that is longer that attaches from the coolant tank to the turbo.

then this will work perfect with no problems.

this thread is a work in progress still ha haa.
the hose people would need to extend (from tank to turbo) is shaped like a question mark

Do you have any pictures with the aluminum sleeve on?

I think I know what you mean, but I don't understand why you just wouldn't use a shorter bolt.

I think the sleeve holds the coolant tank out further away from the manifold, not to hold it in closer.

Then why is the bolt in the picture so damn long.....unless it's not screwed in....but either way I don't see why it would need to be that long.

Haha I know. I would've just bought a shorter bolt and put a washer on the end of it...

the bolt is longer so that the tank isn't in the way of the intercooler... and it allows the tank to be adjusted to whatever length that you need for your i/c.

It is screwed into the mounting position and the threads are the same "length" on the bigger bolt i purchased as on the stock short screw that came with the car.

i WILL take more pictures tomorrow when i go back to my house, and describe the situation better.

it makes sense i swear, i just gave this alot of thought because i didn't want to buy a different tank

Ok got it. Where did you find the correct bolt to use?

brought the OEM bolt into napa and they matched it up.
then i just looked for one that would provide the clearance to get the tank out of the way from the TMIC.

and from here you would measure out the length of the sleeve you needed on either side of the tank to secure it in place AND extend the hose that goes from the coolant tank to the turbo..

aka...get a longer one otherwise you may break things
