newby to newer Ru's
I'm looking at a 93 AWD turbo Legacy sedan that is in good condition but per the owner the motor is shot. I have no other descripting than that guys...sorry.
My question is this. I found a Legacy "L" (non-turbo) wrecked but with a low mile engine. Can I swap it out under the turbo stuff?
thanks
Bill

yesx the short block will fit, but it won't have the longevity of the ej22t. although the ej22 is a freaking unreal as far as durability, so there is no telling might last 500 miles, might make it 50,000 hard to say.

With the stock boost levels there would be nothing to worry about using an NA block. The problem with this swap, as alluded to, is that you must use the turbo heads and move them over to the shortblock of the NA car before installing it. It's almost more trouble than it's worth. You could just as easily get an Ej20 bottom end if you are going to that trouble and mate that to the Ej22T heads...

Rather than swapping heads I think getting oil from another source is easier ("t'ing" the oil pressure switch for turbo oil feed or getting a oil feed kit & tapping the pan for a oil drain).
I "t'd" my oil cooler line for an oil feed & drained into the v-cover on my PhaseII 2.2e OBS-t.
I got coolant to the turbo from the t-body coolant line (out of t-body - into turbo, out of turbo into where the t-body fed back in to the block).
