I got mine for free by posting a wanted ad on a mailing list I'm on.
I still haven't finished wiring the cord though

Hey i was meaning to email you about this.
That laptop I told you i had, i forgot to tell you the battery doesnt work so it has to be plugged in at all times. I run it off of a AC/DC converter in my car.
Glad you found one though. $12 cant be beat.
Any laptop will work as long as it has a LPT port for VRG's scan tool. I run mine on a 486 33mhz and 16mb of ram. His tool runs in dos (and only dos) so pretty much anything will work.

ya the laptop i bought has 233mhz and 64mb of ram, no hard drive but thats not needed for this, so should work.

the HD i have is totaled, so this will work then!

yea from what i understand the program boots and runs from a cd-rom or floppy drive, so my computer knowledge would tell me no hard drive or operating system is needed, hope I'm not wrong.

Yeah you can run off a bootable ISO image.
This reminds me, i should do a write up of my install on my car and add it to my build thread.
