My tranny has shifted kinda slow since i bought the car. It holds strong in 1st, and in power mode shifts alright. However, when cruising it kinda lags for a second after shifting into the next gear.

Im wondering what I can do to help it out alittle, maybe make it alittle firmer. If im accelerating, most often my engine revs but it takes time for the tranny to catch up to speed.

I was thinking of draining the fluid and replacing it, however IM wondering if theres a better method or a special formula to help things out in there.

Unfortunately....not really. Changing the fluid may help.

Depending on what shift you're having issues with, you may be able to adjust the brake band

Other then that, short of rebuilding the transmission, installed a shift kit in the valve body, etc. There's really not much you can do.

I read somewhere that you can fool duty soleniod b into providing full line pressure during shifts, but I believe it was for SVXs. Its supposed to firm up the shifts, and I know old domestic transmissions actually last longer with full line pressure.

But depending on thef problem, you may just kill the trans faster...

Yeah....disconnecting the shift resistor. I would not recommend doing it. I unplugged it for a little while on my legacy and besides the car not wanting to downshift with it not connected, the trans just never seemed to shift the same afterwards.

But that's my experience.
