So i've read this in several places.
Are my windows supposed to be auto up?? My 94 SS is for sure not auto up right now.
When I bought the car I found a block of switches that must have been the originals and changed. Could the new ones be non auto up? Is that feature regulated in the switches? Is it all four that auto up? I'd really love for them to be auto up, it's one of the best features of my gf's VW Rabbit.

'94s don't have auto up. It was dropped for that year. You should be able to get it by swapping for a '93 or earlier switch.

probably for safety. years ago, i was working @ a buick dealer,we had this young kid who was kind of a bonehead. he was (for some reason) trying to put up a customer's l/f window while standing outside the car. well, he ended up pinning his right arm to the top of the door and couldn't reach the switch-----funny as hell!!!!!!! another employee had to help him out(his work station was kind of secluded) when they saw him dangling out the window. he later insisted that he hit the "express up" button(the car didn't have any such feature)---we gave him plenty of shit about that. so, in cases similar, auto-up windows could be a little dangeous. what if you pinned yourself in the same fashion and were alone???? personally, i love the auto up feature you just have to be mindfull of it in certain circumstances. not many vehicles i've come across have the auto up thing. wife's 08 nitro has it though.

if you've taken off the interior door trim then the auto down can be a problem too. but if you havent, then you probably have no clue what im talking about. haha. but just for anyone whos wondering, when you take off the door trim, the metal is showing. and the switches are hanging. on the other doors, this is not a problem because they only have small single switches. but the drivers door has a big rectangular box that holds all 4 switches. i normall put this inside the door frame. it rests there very nicely. but when lowering the window, i must be careful not to press the auto down and stick the switch box back into the door frame because the window will keep trying to go down, while the switch is stuck under it. which creates a big problem of "how am i gonna get this thing out?" anyways, its not too bad, you just have to remmeber to take the box out when your lowering the drivers side window.
