wiring problems

So i swapped a EJ22T motor into an Impreza. I got the EJ18 ecu pinout and the EJ22T pin out. I did all the wiring but the light still will not come on and the car will not start it will just turn over. When i unplugged the B48 the light would come on but when its plugged in it wouldn't.

I decided to ground the major grounds like Natoe did so i grounded the ignition ground, 2 control system grounds, and the sensor ground. Before i grounded that i plugged in the last plug and the ECU light was still on.. but once i grounded it you could hear all the relays ( i believe they were relays) clicking on and off till i finally grounded it and no more ECU light.

I do put a diode in the right way the cathode(striped end) end goes to the self shut off control and the other one goes to the ignition switch pin.

Any help would be appreciated because i dont know what to look for next. Thanks, also could it possibly be my ECU that is wacked because this is the second time i did the wiring and the first time im pretty sure it was wacked so could i have fryed the ECU?

Can you provide details on exactly what you did with your wiring?

What i did was go through the wiring one pin at a time (on the EJ18 harness) and i numbered every single pin so i would know what they were. Then i would pull that pin on the EJ18 wiring harness and find out what it was on the EJ22T harness say it was the ignition switch and i would then swap the ignition wire to the location of where it was on the EJ22T harness.

The extra wires that the EJ18 did not have like the map, knock, maf pin # 5 and what not. I had all of those extra wires i had taken off of a EJ22T harness and i just plugged those in to there correct locations.

That is where im at, i think thats what you wanted but if not let me know. Thanks

It sounds like you did the correct thing. The main question is what differences in the chassis wiring are there between the legacy & impreza. That may be what's causing you problems, no diode, or something else....

Bump from the dead and a 15 year update. It was the ecu. New one fixed the issue, haha.... (I figured this out 15 years ago, just thought I'd update this if anyone uses this for info)
