Lazy 3rd gear

I have a 93 ss with an auto and most of the time 3rd takes about 2-5 seconds to fully ingage. Does this mean the tranny is on the way out? Other than that the tranny shifts fine and the power mode doesnt work. If its time for a tranny im gonna swap in a 5mt.

The brake band probably needs to be adjusted.

Kool! I thought that the tranny was on its way out. How do you adjust it?

you should also change the fluid and the filter if you have not yet done that...the haynes manual will tell you how to adjust the bands.
