So...as of last night at 9:30, my Legacy has 3" exhaust. Furthermore, it really doesn't have any mufflers...only a 24" long glasspack in the middle by the transaxle...

It sounds pretty neat...

Oh...and I built it all by myself :o

A conglomeration of a custom 2.25" downpipe, stock midpipe with cats removed, and some no-name stainless muffler welded onto stock axleback...

Sounds pretty bad ass huh?
I also have 3", and it sounds great.
Although sometimes it's a little loud. Especially during spirited driving.

Yeah I just got pulled over last night for my exhaust for the 4th time!! My friends live in this town and I go to hang out with them and the cops there are EXTREMELY strict on the modified exhaust law here in WA.

But it's only there that I get pulled over for it, it seems like other cops could care less lol. I guess I'll need to buy a silencer for when I go out there, there's no way I'm going back to stock. Haha. Unless I get an exhaust cut out..... *gears in head turning*

Sweet!!!!! Mine is 3" turbo back as well, that's the first time I've heard it from outside the car, sooo cool. At a track day not too long ago I was told by a couple S4 owners that my car sounded amazing, now I hear why!! Thanks for that.

does the 3" exhaust give you bad back pressure or being bigger does it help you out power wise?

It's been said before that on the turbo cars, the turbo pretty much creates all the back pressure you need.

i had a 3" tbe on my sti it seemed to take some power from the launch but my 1/4 mile trap went up i would assume the legacy would be the same

That was probably more of an engine management issue than exhaust...

Running bigger exhaust on a Turbo Subaru will not make you lose power anywhere!
