So I was thinking about selling my FWD NA Legacy...
It has the Jecs Plastic MAF
Is it possible to swap my metal low-flow one with the other one for future stuff... Or will the one out of my SS not work properly in the NA car?

The Hitachi MAF won't jive with the JECS ecu...
Honestly...I scored a plastic MAF at the junkyard for $10...they ain't hard to come by...

The JECS will lean the engine in a SS/TW unless you've got some type of EM. I would just sell the car as it is.
Then keep your eye out for a good deal on a JECS to 'put on the shelf'. That way when your upgrades get to the point of engine management, you've already got it.

Okay, cool, good to know before I did it!

If used in conjunction with 440cc grey top injectors would that help with the leaning out without EM... I thought they make it run a tad rich?

And thus allow you to run more boost safely?

No...because the leanness would be due to ecu parameters...

That combo will be better. Can't say for certain untill it gets tried, but I would think it's safe.
Widebands are cheap these days. They can be had all day long @ $200 on Ebay. Insurance.
I like the LC-1 because it's well supported and can be used to data log to a laptop right out og the box. The outputs are also configurable, unlike some others that are fixed at 0-5 volts and 0-1 volts.

+1 on the plastic MAF /440 injector combo being something that someone may want to test out.

Hmm... After I get my IC done I may buy a wideband, 440s and use or get a different plastic MAF... If it doesnt work decent I'll just swap on the old stuff and wait until I get some EM.

I know this is an old post but it's something I've tried over the winter when i was bored the plastic one will run just fine, if you left you boost levels stock.
However, i prefer the aluminum one because you can modify it so that you can richen your injectors and run higher boost levels. The plastic one can't be modified.
We collect the aluminum MAF's for the ability to be drilled out where the hot wire is. This should not be attempted with your only MAF
Mine are now sitting around because i don't use a MAF anymore but run a 3Bar map sensor. Ah...Gotta love Motec

Can you post exactly how you modify the aluminum MAF and what kind of readings you get?

I can, but even my best friend I will not give this info to. My testing is not totally complete. If I find something definate next season I will post it. Funny enough I'm going to use his car for testing, Shh don't tell him

Beacuse I don't run a MAF sensor anymore his car is the perfect candidate.
