i found a set of stock 2002 wrx wheels with tires for sale and i've been searching and it seems like this bolt pattern will work. any words of advice before i purchase this set? i.e. what tire sizes to run or stay away from?

Yep, they should work, the bolt pattern is 5x100. I am just running the stock 205/55-16 size although I believe some are running a wider tire.
