IF you built a Legacy for the Alcan... what would it be?

So if you were going to do the Alcan 5000 what kind of car would you use?
IMO the most badass would be:
1994 Subaru Legacy Ti (Outdoor Wagon) or an Mi (Alpine Sport)
Already has skid plates
w/
Turbo Hood
Turbo Bumper (it already has the grill)
Brush Guard on front
ej22t/ ej25d hybrid
smallish turbo vf39
fully replaced air suspension (4 in lift on demand)
Alpine Sport Heated Mirrors
Heated seats from either the Alpine or a newish subaru
91 VLSD rear end
5mt (hydro clutch)
Of course with roof racks etc.
So... what would you want?

Where did you get the idea that a VF39 is small?

Well... Its not THAT huge... Especially not compared to most aftermarket turbos... gt35rs, t3/t4es etc.
Okay, not small compared to vf11, vf8, vf12s, td04s
And I said smallish. Not small.

Yeah...for rally, you will notice that nobody runs any of the rotated turbo kits...
Reliability is the #1 most important part of rally, especially the Alcan. Sounds to me like a good setup for it otherwise.
You fixin' to run it?

Eventually, I think that would be an amazing feat.
However, I dont have the skills yet. I need those first.
But um... It would be SO awesome... Just need to work on the "not killing myself" part first.

So nick, if you were going to... what would you drive/ create?
Mine would be like a 94 Touring Wagon Ti STi... haha

Unimog
Or some variety of AAN powered Audi
The Alcan is more of a TSD rally than a performance rally, so you don't need a silly fast car...
But...an AAN powered Audi is very much a performance car...
The Unimog just wouldn't get stuck in anything, and would have room in the back for a couch and stuff

My car would be a stripped interior Justy with a very small turbo (low boost) and some better tires.
I'm sure it would have the best power to weight ratio for the money.

I used to have a friend that had one of those old Chevy Sprints. Factory turbo model. He did exactly that! Was just about the most fun you can have in a car. Big tires+no weight=grip, grip, grip. No balance however, but most of the time it didn't matter.
The best part?....When he blew up a motor (every 5-10K) he just went to the U-Pull and got another (N/A) shortblock for $70. You could almost curl it out of the engine bay. 4 hours later the car was running again.

+1 on Turbo Sprints
Hard to find a clean one though - some folks really love these...

Turbo sprints were only FWD though. The Justy was AWD and had 5.2 final gearing!

True.
I would hate to think how long a 4WD Justy transmission would last if you got to 100HP/100lb/ft.

If it wasn't the ECVT I think it would do just fine, in other countries they lasted forrrrrrrever (on stock power of course).

If we are talking TSD rally and old Suzuki motors....
How about an MG Midget/AH Sprite with a 1300cc Swift GT motor? A Samuri or Sidekick 5 speed bolts right up.

No Suzuki! In the US all Justys were Japan built by Subaru. Only in other countries did they get the suzuki, daihatsu and chevys!

So... If you were to build a LEGACY what would it be?
Any thoughts on my idea?
