So I am building a rally car 1994 impreza WRX. I wanted it to be painted close to the 555 rally blue color which is a flat dark blue like royal blue. This is what I get. They tell me it will look darker outside and not under the ultra violet lights, but I don't think thats gonna help enough. What funny is I actually don't hate the paint job its kinda goofy looking on a impreza but its also kind of a good color for a rally car. Its different thats for sure. :x

Yeah.... not even close. Flourescent lights wouldn't have that big of an impact on the color.

Ya I know and they were like well thats the color u chose out of the book. And i'm like ya well you were right there helping me decide on a what looked like a good match. They coulda gave me a tip that any given color in the booklet looks alot lighter when its on the car.

Might as well like it since you're stuck with it. But it isn't that bad a color. A little baby-blueish, but it'll be seen, that's for sure. Too bad, though, your car would've looked just like the old triple nickel rally car.

And yeah, it'll look darker IN THE SUN!

I like it. It's not a common color, that's for sure! A few black accents would bring the overall lightness down a bit, if you really have a problem with baby blue.

Its not baby blue lol. Its a couple shades darker. Its almost like that BMW M3 blue.

Ah, well I didn't quite think of a BMW M3 when I saw it, so baby blue seemed to describe it best. :P

It *is* going to be a rally car, after all. And I'd say it's a good color to get attention with on the trails!

you will be surprised at what it will look like in the sun.

i have a jacket that looks purple under flourescent light and blue in sunlight.

always pick the colors in sunlight. i am surprised they didnt tell you that.

that being said i think that it lookspretty good and will look great once you get the trim back on, the visual package and some decals.

1. dont pay them since you are not satisfied w/th their service(s)

you don't have to if you seriously think that they did that shitty of a job

Exactly what I was thinking. Not at all a bad color for a race car. I would still raise hell though and try for a discount?

Too funny, but there is a quick (For England) Impreza that color - you now have the US version.

You have to have a big bottle of Jack Daniels for it to look like the rally blue inside or outside....
The actual quality of the job does not look bad - excellent for Maaco.

how much did it cost...thinking about painting my car black. They can't possibly screw up black...can they?

I'd guess around $900.

That Vanagon in the background's the same color as mine.

Other than the color, how's the quality of the paint job? I've seen wildly varying finishes from different MAACOs, from show quality, down to 80-grit prep, bugs-in-the-paint hack jobs.

Wow that was a good ass guess... It ended up costing me exactly 900.00 cash out the door lol.

Maaco kinda worked with me on the price because they forgot to paint the inside of the trunk. My experience wasn't so bad... They did try to help me out and I got a pretty decent paint job for what I paid. Can't really complain the car looks pretty damn good.

Haha I'm good at guessing numbers I guess.

But yeah, I think that looks awesome man. The color will grow on you for sure.
