im running a frontmount intercooler. and i looked again while running my car and im only running like 10psi.

ill post pictures but ive got bad news.... i think i blew the turbo already but i cant really say. after i ran the car hard from 0-120 i let off and drove normal. i came up to a stop sign and i got a kinda big amount of smoke out from my hood. so i shut the car down and looked under the hood. i had oil on my intercooler pipe that loops around behind the turbo. i have a stripped nut on one of the bolts for the down pipe so theres a little bit of a gap. so i figured that i blew the rear seal and the oil shot out from the exhaust turbine. was able to get through the gap inbetween the downpipe and turbo to get on the charge pipe. its not coming from the top bango nut from what i can tell and oil is'nt spraying in the engine bay from the turbo while the engine is running so. while i was driving it home i was hearing a weird sound coming from the area of the turbo. it sounds kinda like a pipe draging on the ground or a pipe can. it might be the loose bolt and nut on the down pipe but i dunno. so tomarow im going to take the down pipe off and see if theres any shaft play. so i hope that i didnt blow it cause i just got it and it was a used jdm turbo.

Well before everything went crazy, how did 10 PSI on the TD05 compare to 14 PSI on the VF11? Noticeably faster?

oh god ya. it was a waaay smoother power curve and it pulled very nice, very comfortable type of power. not the type that will slam you in the seat then die off. but more of a steady strong pull to redline. you'll loose the lowend but really gain mid to high end. it was very nice, i could only amagne what it would feel like at 18-20 psi with a nice smooth tune.

man it would be a thing of beauty.

+1 on your TD05 assessment, & 18psi feels nice once you get there.

Hope everything is OK with your car.

so i cut one of the top bolts off so i could replace it. i didn't have any luck getting the down pipe off be cause one of the lower bolts got stuck so i said F*** it. but i did check for play on the intake side and it was minor.

im going to go around the block to see if the rattling went away.

ok. so i found out today that my bov is spraying out oil and coolent.

im not sure but i think it might be that fuckin turbo. i was reading on other fourms about people having this problem and they where all reverting the problem back to the turbo's.

anyone have anyother thoughts of what it can be? btw it was cool till i rasied the boost from 11 to 14 at PIR.

The td05 I just bought was leaking oil from the rear seal, so when I get my stimulus payment, the turbo's going to deadbolt to be rebuilt. It's odd that it would leak coolant too. When I called deadbolt they said it would be 299 for a full rebuild and balance, plus about 50$ shipping from where I am.
Too bad about your trouble.

thanks for your info :).

i thought that i might of been a head gasket goin but before jumping to conclusions i asked my self what in the inter cooler system has oil and coolent in it, the turbo...

yep, so it looks like im going to have to send it to get rebuilt. and if this dosent fix the problem. engine rebuild time...

there's coolant in the TB too isnt there? Could that have cracked?

Wow that is weird.

You could bypass the coolant to the turbo (a fitting/pipe to join th 2 hoses together) & boost the car to see if it is still spitting out oil & coolant.
If it still is sneezing coolant the problem is not your turbo.

well my bov is pre Throtle Body so that wouldnt be a concern unless it was coming out of the exhaust i would think.

thats a good idea about the coolant lines. ill try that idea and see what happens. thanks for the info guys. ill head to the parts store and get a fitting and once again cross my fingers for the best. rather it be the turbo then the motor...

blew some rings eh? gotta be careful running without a tune like that. must resist the urge to get out there and beat on it right after such a mod.

ya, plus with 155k one the original motor dosen't help ether.

four pulls at PIR. 2 at 11 psi then two at 14psi.

best was a 14.7 @98 with a quick reaction time but slow start because of a weak clutch.

If you are going to tune with a PP6...get a wideband...otherwise its like pissing in the dark
