Mr. and Sunshine don't contradict themselves unless you're a rabid feminist, I suppose. An oxymoron is two words that seemingly don't go together. I believe irony is what you mean.

Thank you, I wrote the joke. I was clarifying for him so he wouldn't use a word incorrectly. Oxymoron is an apparent self-contradictory term such as 'jumbo shrimp' - jumbo, meaning large, and shrimp commonly applied to something small. Me calling myself 'Mr. Sunshine', clearly not being so, would be irony, specifically verbal irony. As Mr. and Sunshine do not contradict, that cannot be an oxymoron. Having to explain a joke kills it, but at least it wasn't that funny to begin with.

Irony is another word often misused. I don't know if it was the Alanis Morissette song, 'Ironic' that actually contained no examples of irony (which in itself is ironic) that initiated the misuse, but I hear it frequently misapplied, particularly by the kids these days. And so I continue my fight against the wave of mainstream-inspired ignorance even while being pushed back on occasion myself.

As a cartoon PSA often said, "Knowing is half the battle."

Yup, your right... I knew what it meant... I was just associating evolutionmovement, which has come to represent a person who obviously has a very dark and twisted view of the world, and Mr. Sunshine... which is the exact opposite.

My bad...

Oh, and because the song titled "Ironic" not having any irony in it IS ironic in itself, the song is thus appropriately titled...
