And it's when your car is not running, right? My car clicks a lot after it's been driven and is turned off... as does my mother's Plymouth Breeze.

power steering...?
dying pump maybe?

you got bad spark plugs?

that's what i'd guess for a tic-tic sound.

and are your belts good?

I found it to be the wires with the tic actually. Lifters usually indicated time for a oil change.

my belt seem fine tension is as indicated in the hayes manual
for the spark plug its hard to said, i have check them a couple week ago. i have iridium ngk spark plug.
but how exactly i could know if they are not tide to the proper torque, i dont have the tools for that but i think it's not the spark plug but can't be sure of it.

i could suspect power steering pump since i have always find it hard to turn the steering maybe its just me but after driving imprezia 2008 its was so smooth compare with my legacy 94

is there any replacement pump avalaible.

or i have to stick with the oem pump?
btw i am going to change my oil this end of the week.

i have always put 5-30 someone tools me, its good for turbo to have the oil with a low viscosity.

canadian tie told me that : ) i try 10-40 but my car dint seem to like it but it was at the beginning april was not that hot

On the spark plugs... ditch Iridiums... pick up some NGK V-Powers... best for these cars

On the Oil......... CHECK THE MANUAL

Its says not to use 5-30 for sustained high speed driving... and look at the temp range... too low for normal stuff.

For normal drivin dont use it, use 10w-30 or 10w-40

thx for these spark plug recommendation. i will buy these.
and for the oil i dont do high speed.

i need to change my exaust system first still looking for some good set up.

The thing is... by "sustained high speed"

I'd think Subaru means freeway. 70-80

I'll have to look at my manual for the temp range...

But that low viscosity for normal temps could cause the lifters to be starved for oil. The oil gets out of its efficiency range and the lifters dont fill properly.

The lifters are little hydraulic "things" (not sure what to call them) that are between the camshaft and rocker arms... when they dont get enough oil they tick.

I had the ones on my N/A swapped for mechanical ones from a phase II sohc...

Now it sounds like a tractor... differrent kind of tick.

ok so i do a lot of highway 80-110 km/h
from the legacy user book it's recommended 10-30 or 10-40 for higher temp.

can i add something to the oil to make it more viscosity bcuz i just buy another 4 liter of 5-30 lol.

btw what are the worst thing that could happen? i mean could i bloe something should i add 10-30 what do you thing and this by assuming this what is causing the tic tic tic sound

I dont know what you could add to it...

I've had lifters get stuck before... my car wouldnt start and when it did... damn... I had ot shut it right back off, it sounded HORRIBLE! lol

Thats when i had mine replaced.

I dunno if youre necessarily gonna blow something... but it could cause un-necessary wear and tear.

you have change them? how much this cost you?

i want to invest on a agx suspension with whiteline spring, but im scare investing money on a old car even is its look very clean from the outside i know i got a little leak and some weirdo intermitent startup problem
with very high gas consumtion

all these thing make me think twice .
i just change 3 tie rod brand new tire change all the fluid mostly i dint depressurize the gas while changing the oil filter and since then the rmp needle stick sometime at the same rpm even if i have release the accelerator not a big deal but still weird

by smh0101
I think it would have been about $500... but a friend, who had the parts did it as a favor.

These cars a sooo worth the investment. From what I hear that would be a very nice setup.

And what do you mean "depressurize the gas" when changin the filter??

And that wouldnt effect the tach...

do you have a manual?? then as long as you leave the clutch engaged the rpms are going to remain constant with speed...

I'm lost...

no it's AT transmision i mean while i release the gs pedal the rpm stay at the same rpm speed for a couple pf second and go down right after i have also see on highway i was accelerating and the rmp would not go higher then 300 rpm like the needle stick for few second but the car dont seem to be affected by this.

also what i mean by depressurise the fuel system, i was supose to unplug the fuel pump before changing the oil filter haynes book say this but i have change it without depressurise the system

you seem to know this a lot more them me can you tell me on this picture the first picture what is the thing over the solenoid

Huh, I just drain the oil, replace the filter, fill with oil... check... and go.

Never done that, dont know why you would need to... and the fuel pump isnt on unless the car is...

maybe it was refering to the fuel filter, but i never "depressurize it then either, and I've never had a problem.

The thing on top is the pressure exchange solenoid... the lower thing is the boost control solenoid.

the PES send signal to the MAP... and does somethin else to... but I'm not to sure... lol
