Lately my 91 SS has been having a strange boost problem.
No matter how much I turn up the MBC, in 1st gear it will not boost over 9-10psi....in 2nd gear maybe 11-12psi and 3rd - 5th it will boost to the MBC setting.

I have the following supporting mods....MBC, boost gauge, 06WRX TMIC, replaced my shot VF11 with a lower milage one.

Everything worked fine and just one day it started acting wierd in 1st and 2nd gear.

Any ideas where I should begin troubleshooting?

Thanks

Check your boost lines, make shure they are tight

Make shure your BPV is sealing properly

This is most likely due to engine loading and that there's not enough load to produce the desired boost.

Seems your experiencing the opposite of what others experience of overboosting in higher gears to higher engine loads.

The issue could be caused by a number of things from turbo, exhaust, boost controller, etc.

What is your MBC set to?

Right now the MBC is set to 13psi......I can crank the hell out of it and hit fuel cut but not until 3rd gear.

The rubber connector between the nylon tube for the boost gauge and Intake maniflod T-splitter had holes in it.....thats when I noticed it wuld never boost up above 10 psi in any gear.
I replaced the connector with special brass fittings and a piece of hose to mate up to the t-splitter. That fixed the boost over 3rd gear but still not in 1st or 2nd.

I am going to doublecheck that connection to see if it is slightly leaking pressure.

The car was running full boost in all gears before the original connector ripped.
