trying to fix somones swap!!!!

ok so i dont have lots of experance with Legacys. i spend most of my time dealing with older GL's and i have played with some JDM EJ20G stuff...

i do have a prety good idea what im doing, i have done two EJ20G swaps and one EJ22E swap into old GL body cars. i am also a auto tech by trade.

now here is the problem...

a friend of a friend calls me and tells me he is having some car trouble and needs some help. i find out that he has taken an N/A legacy and did a EJ22t swap into it. and brought it to me running on the N/A ECU, because he couldnt get it to run on the Turbo ECU.

so far i have flip floped the CMP and CKP sensor wiring so it starts and runs on the Trubo ECU. i have added the wiring for the pressure sensor, wastgate sensor and bypass valve.

car runs fine for the most part, but dose not drive all that well.
as soon as the turbo spools up and goes into + PSI it feels like it is cutting fuel and trying to die.

i also have three codes.

code 35 - Purge Control Solenoide Valve: this one im not all that worried about. i can test it out and find out if i just have a bad valve or whatever.

code 45 - Atmospheric Pressure Sensor: now this one worries me. this is an N/A only code, the Turbo ECU shouldn't have a atm pressure sensor. i have no idea what to do with this code.

Code 49 - Air Flow Meter: this says that i have the wrong air meter pluged in. this may have set because the first time i started it up it did have the JECS meter in it. it now has the HITACHI meter in it but i can not get the code to clear.

and lastly is there any way to clear the codes on this thing short of driving it? i would like to see if i can clear the code 49 to see if this is causing my dieing problem with boost condition.

sorry for the novel but thanks in advance for any help...

ok so i did some more searching and found that the code 45 can also be - Faulty sensor or pressure exchange solenoid valve inoperative - causing - Prevents abnormal supercharging pressure using "fuel cut" in relation to engine load.

so this is the first thing i will look at tomorrow...

the code 45 is certainly causing the fuel cut around positive manifold pressure. I ran into that when 1. the line had fallen off the pressure sensor and 2. the sensor actually broke. Unfortunately it's a spendy part. hopefully it's just a little wiring issue.

Code 35 can play havoc with clearing the codes. I'd highly suggest you try replacing the canister purge solenoid, or at least testing it.

You can pull fuse 14 EGI/TCU for 30 min or so to try clearing the codes. Otherwise connect both the black and green connectors, and follow the procedure from my site.

yeah i pulled the canister purge solenoid and checked it out. it had 14M ohms. should be abut 20 ohms.

installed another one i had, and all the codes went away...

runs fine with no check engine light now...

now i just have to put a trany into it and it should be driveable...

Yup....that canister purge solenoid.....for whatever reason will keep the ECU from clearing all the codes sometimes. I'm not sure if that's due to the fact it's an emissions related device and they want to make sure it's operating correctly....
