There were four or five cars in Astoria for the WCSS10 that could have taken home the trophys for first and second place. Here are pics of the two the judges selected. 1st place went to kleinkid from Oak Harbor Washington, second place went to Anthony F. from Seabeck Washington. After the show Kleinkid stated that he "will not be entering my BlackMagic into a WWCSS again. Once you have been to the top twice, there is only one place to go, and that is down. This will give my competitors a chance to feel the 'thrill of victory'!"

I don't think I've ever seen kleinkid's ride. It looks so lovely.

I always enjoying reading John's comments and I've put it together that is very knowledgable and has a sweet ride - but I think that may be the first pic of it I've seen. So very nice. Is that one of the Carter hoods?

Big congrats to John!!

It is a David Carter hood. I bought it about three years ago, but it arrived damaged. Both corners on the end near the windshield were broken, and there were several other dings and significant imperfections. I recently had it repaired, painted and installed. The vent mesh is open and the scoop is a much bigger hole for air to the intercooler. I like it.

how did you open the vents?


i was thinkin about cutting mine out and buying the real ones from the dealership and in stalling them.

I had an auto body shop with fiberglass experience do the work on the hood. They told me that they drilled a hole big enough to get a small file in, and then hand filed each mesh hole to get the shape. Worked for them. They look pretty good. You could probably use a dremel type rotary tool with an appropriate bit on it instead of a file. But it would probably need a file to do the detail work. In my opinion I would not suggest cutting the fiberglass vents out and replacing with stock vent. Definitely open the vent holes up. You will get some water going in through the IC vent and those cooling vents in the rain, but not a huge amount. I know, because when I left Portland Monday morning heading north to go back home, it was raining really hard, thunder and lightning all around, raining so hard I thought it would damage the fresh paint on the hood, but it didn't. When I got home the engine space still looked pretty clean.
