So i am changing my valve cover gaskets out today, pop hood, take a look and then graby my haynes manual for some guidance, looks simpe enough though. So the haynes manual apparently for my car, only shows the procedure for the 2.5 and not the 2.2,only the manual doenst state that. It shows a diagram of how you remove the 6 bolts on each side, and doesnt say anything about the 3 bolts that ACTUALLY hold the vc on! So before i realize it, i get a socket on what i think is the vc bolt, when actually its a head bolt! I broke 2 of them loose, which took some mighty force, with a breaker bar mind you. I get those 2 loose and at this point i start to question the haynes manual....

i realize its totally wrong and there is only 3 bolts that hold the VC on and they are smack dab in the middle, so i remove them with ease and replace gaskets...simple job...however my question is now, what/how tight should those 2 head bolts be? The manual says something like 36in lbs then 2 90 degree turns, however right now im doubting the manual!

Are these heads aluminum?? I dont want to strip the bolts or make them too loose, whats the torque specs??

Thanks!
