I searched on legacycentral and am in need of more info.
I am thinking of buying a new VF-23 and sending it to Deadbolt for some trickery. It has the straight inlet, and I need the vertical 90* inlet. Is there anything that can be done to get the inlet changed?
Here is a pic of the VF-23.

I just used a silicone 90* piece for the inlet when I did the VF39...it worked dandy...

I am using the stock intake air box. So you would put the silicone elbow over the stock plastic piece coming from the airbox? Right now that plastic piece goes over the vertical elbow on the VF12.
Is there room for the elbow with the intake manifold runner right there?

Barely... Trim it down short as possible, it will still probably contact the manifold.
You need a small section of metal or plastic tube to splice the connection to connect it to the stock elbow, as it's female, as is the 90 deg silicone hose. I just used 2" PVC.

So, cut the end of the silicone elbow that goes on the turbo, to make that leg shorter.
And, use a pvc pipe piece as a connector to the stock plastic air box piece? That end of the silicone elbow won't go OVER that stock plastic piece?

You could also weld a tight 90* elbow on it, but then the turbo will only be good for 90* inlet cars.
If you go to RS25 they is one for sale for $400 shipped by a vendor on the homepage.
I had one & sold it for about the same price in about 2 days.
The 16G off the V1-2 WRX's is bigger & flows more (505-525CFM vs 423CFM (the VF23 CFM # is a little foggy so I may be a few CFM off)), but the VF23 is supposed to be some sort of ball-bearing turbo (Roller-Bearing, I did not know that little fun fact when I dumped mine).

The vf23 is roller bearing, so would spool faster. Deadbolt will modify the case and weld on a vertical 90* for $99. The vf23 on RS25 is used for $400, the one I would be buying costs more but is new.

Yeah it is used - I don't think you can get a VF23 for close to $400 shipped new.
The VF23 being smaller than a 16G would also help it spool faster....

I'd be MORE than happy to buy the vf12 if you get the vf23...
Just an FYI lol
