I have the afore mentioned 93 turbo awd with a juicebox auto. My wife has a 95 awd auto. with that in mind. to my question. I want to know if you can safely swap the tcms. reason being... i dont like the 90-10 power split. her car has a more sensible 60-40 split when accelerating in a straight line. I would prefer to avoid letting out the magic smoke that lives in the tcm. they tend to not work after doing that. last time i checked the local boneyard they didnt have a 95 or newer legacy. If it is a no, how would you suggest making my tcm think its 60-40 in a straight line but doesnt hop around corners? i am pretty sure im not the only one who would like this info.

No they probably can't be switched.

Also, your wife's 95 does not have 60/40 split. ALL 4EAT transmissions have the 90/10 split under "normal" driving conditions. The MAX distribution you can have with the 4EAT trans is 50/50. There is no way to get any more then that due to how it is setup.

So on that note, the TCM controls what kind of split you have, and it's possible that the newer TCM's might be a little different in their control algorithm.

The new 5EAT utilizes a center differential with an electronically controlled clutch pack. The differential gives a 40/60 split or 45/55 split under normal driving conditions, and locks to 50/50 during wheel slip.
