Spotted! in Kenya

I have been here in Kenya for over three weeks, and while I assure you I am being productive in my efforts at charitable work, there has been quite a nice benefit in terms of eye candy here. There are Subarus all over the place. Here are some words and pics that came out of my second day in the capital city of Nairobi.

There is definitely an aging fleet here in Kenya, and though Nairobi is home to some spank Mercedes and even the occasional H2, it is rife with 90s JDM cars. At home I would see a 1st gen Legacy about twice a month. Here it is every few minutes. I stopped to take a picture of a blue wagon and noticed not one, but two more Legacy sedans parked within a ten foot radius!

Who's that in the background? And there was another sedan off camera to the left....

And then… around a corner or three…… a stopped in my tracks and exclaimed, “oh snap”. There she sat, a dream in Aegien Blue Metallic. Complete with JDM fogs and folding mirrors, I could already imagine the Sporty Steering button on the dash. Only an RA badge away from being the ultimate legacy, this one had a WRX hood scoop that reveals and intercooler and driver ambition. I had to leave a note with this one that read

It’s a niche market wonder land here for an old school Subaru enthusiast. I saw two more that were web-worthy but they were rolling and my camera was not.

*MAJOR DROOLAGE*

The car looks like the owner has some interest in modification. The tail pipe is not stock on the wagon or the wheels.

I thought bf's had raised roofs like the one in Kenya. My TW is not a raised roof and it's a bj.

If you think about it, thats car is not seriously modded. All he did was paint his stock skirts, rims, and that colour probably wasn't original. Also added a rear wing. Other then that that baby is stock!! Appearance wise atleast.

Reguardless of how seriously it's modded, it still has mods done to it... Can you see under the hood? I sure can't from the pictures posted.

They are all on the left, no matter the country of origen or the driver's side.

Up until the dual exhaust legacies and the new Impreza, that is.

I didn't mean to call attention to my volunteering, I just feel a bit silly that the only pictures I have managed to upload are these Subarus. Which is still the case.. 8)
There is a link in my sig if anyone is still interested

But anyway, look how purdy them cars we have are

I am reposting this image because it's made of 48% sex and 49% win

I know! and in that one you can see that the calipers are painted too

does that add to sex or win?

Since it lends nothing to win, I'd say sex. Although body matched blue might not have been the correct choice.

How is it over there. I hear is that it hasn't gotten much better than it was 9 months ago. My girlfriend's dad is from Nairobi and she still has an uncle that teaches at the University of Nairobi. His name is Arnold Rodrigues. His kids go there too. My girlfriend worked near Kibera for 6 weeks a couple of years ago.
