i am pretty happy with the power i am puttin out now but i have a few things in mind(see mods below). i know i still need a dp and mbc to turn boost up to 12 psi.

so, i am thinking after the dp and mbc i want to do 1 or 2 more things, what should i do?

i'm definitely thinking towards something ignition wise, other than that i am stuck... i will be doing a custom cold air intake as well.

What do you guys Think?

i dont mean heads or block work, something stock and simple cause i want to get going on my drivetrain.

sorry 1 more, i made my y pipe out of stainless and my intake will be made out of stainless, should i be coating it with something to keep the heat down?

my favorite ignition mod is the msd coil. its from a neon but has more juice than the stock neon coil (which is already more than the subaru one) it was extremely easy to do too.

it made my car run smoother, and gave me a very big boost in mpg. it basically took me from 15-20 mpg to 18-26 (city-hwy). and yeah my car has a better powerband too, power became more consistent and comes on a bit sooner not so choppy. oh yeah and it gives the exhaust note a really mean and noticeable low pitched growl mostly on deceleration.

best part was the cost, the coil was about 70$ http://www.shopatron.com/product/part_n ... 35.0.0.0.0

the plug that goes into the coil i beleive was off a 1996 neon and i got at a junk yard for a few bucks.

and then you need new spark plug wires because the ends on the coil are male as opposed to the female ones on the stock coil. i think mine are off of a 1996 impreza but just go to a parts place with the coil and ask to see a few subaru wires.

in either case look at this post and if you follow the directions it'll work for you perfectly as it did for me. http://sli.legacycentral.org/FORUM/viewtopic.php?t=5195

there are a few other topics about it in the DIY forum.

hope this helps

josh, what setup did you use?

I'd be hesitant with using a coil for a different car. When the resistances are different, your ignitor can suffer.

I looked around on SRT-4 forums and it seems a lot of guys have had that coil burn up on them.

I'm going to coil-on-plug with the gray coils (STi). You need DOHC heads to do that though.

I have an MSD Dis-2 ignition with a diamond coil pack.

Depending on how things go, I may upgrade to an individual coil setup. But I'll have to wait and see what I want to do with the heads, if anything, which will kind of decide whether I'd be able to use a coil on plug setup, or have to get a separate coil, mount it near the heads and then run a shorty wire.

was it a worthy upgrade?

and is it like plug and play?

vrg3 measured the resistances of the stock coil and compared them with the ones of the msd coil and he said they were close enough. i dont think there are any aftermarket coils that use the stock wires but i have heard the diamond ones are better than the regulars.

i havent been on any neon forums but on sli theres a few guys that have had them on for a pretty long while and they have endured everything from regular street use to races and auto x ing and even an engine fire. i trust mine with my life. but hey thats just me.

I put it in back in 02, but from what I remember yeah I thought it was worth it. You do have to do some wiring, but it's not bad.
