ok, im getting around to dropping the tank tomorrow afternoon (nothing better to do on a sunday right?) and im just preparing myself for the worst here. i have a leak thats unseen coming out of a feul line and it may be the cause of a rusty sending unit. i was wondering what other cars use the exact same unit, mine is a 92 subaru legacy sedan, fwd model. im hoping its just the rubber lines coming off, but dealing with these older model with rust, ya never know. thanks guys.

also, this is definantly an in-tank sending unit, correct? i know the previous model subarus had external sending units, but i dont see how thats possible on this.

Yes the sending unit is in the tank. If your car is FWD, ONLY sending units from other FWD subies will work.

You don't need to drop the tank to find the unit. A leak in your tank is another story. You should be able to access the sending unit by taking the cover off, it's behind the rear seats.
