maybe not acetone, but toulene(sp) can help increase fuel economy by cleaning up dirty top end parts.
However safest way to do that is with Seafoam, Gumout Regane, Redline SI-1, Chevron with Techron Fuel System Cleaner, or the Ever powerful Motorvac.

Driving slower is the best way to save gas. It's not just speed as I've recently seen little difference in my Mazda between 60mph w/cruise and windows down, 80+mph mixed with bad traffic and a few low-gear holding, high rpm sweepers (about 1 mpg 31/30), but about keeping the car in its efficiency tables longer. When I do the higher speeds now, I keep the load on the engine down as if I were grannying at 60, coasting on declines, and using momentum to get up hills, letting the car drop speed a little to keep the engine load as steady as possible instead of hitting the accelerator aggressively with my annoyance at other drivers. You can feel it when you do decide to get on it as the car in efficiency mode barely accelerates, but there's always a compromise.

Tires are the only part of your car that touches the ground (at least I hope so lol) so they play an important part.
Many of us put stickier and wider tires than the factory and that is why we dont get as good mileage. The forward rolling resistance adds up over time.
Besides putting rock hard tires on your car you can temporarily adjust them for long trips by pumping them up to the maximum pressure.
When I drive to LA I regularly pump mine up to 50PSI and i see 1.5-3mpg increase (large margin of error depending on how fast I was going).

That works as well, but you don't want to drive like that all the time as tires aren't cheap.

You can also replace your air filter more often, and let the car shift with a auto instead of letting it struggle, just tap the pedal and let it shift down then you can just give it a tiny bit of throttle to speed up. With standard well you know the procedure
