so i am coming home the other down and there is a down hill section that i always coast down. well i take the car out of gear and the car is doing about 70 when i fell the sterring get tough around this slight bend, well i dont think anything of it until the road starts to flatten out when i realize the car is off. so i coasted for a good 800 meters before i finally stopped at started the car back up. it didnt shake or anything the car just shut off. what could cause this a real low idel.

Has this happened more than once? If it's a one time thing, I wouldn't sweat it but if it happens somewhat frequently I'd start by checking all your vacuum lines. That can be a source of poor idle.

Usually in neutral what RPM are you idling at? Might be a good idea to spray some wd40 down the tube for the IAC valve ( idle air control).

1500, isn't that really high for a warmed up engine? Mine is ~500.

RPM changes depending on VSS1 input. 1500 idle at 70mph is normal. (at least in an auto in neutral which i just verified)

500!!!!! i thought that was really low. when i start mine it will try and stay at 2000 but i give it some gas and it settles to about 1000 to 1500 and that is as low as i thought it should be

I doubt its 500. You are misreading the tach. That second to bottom line is actually 750.

no the instrument lights would come on... like the battery and and stop and the other ones. the other day i tested it coming down a hill to see if it would stall so i put it in neutral and watched my volt gauge and it would drop from 14 to about 12 and back like t was trying to shut down and then i would put it back in gear and it would be fine

ya mine does the same thing only its a MT so when you put the clutch in it does it. i haven't figured out what it is but i would, like guy said before clean ur IAC and also i read that it could be a cracked valve but that is kinda unlikly. This is just a total guess but i wonder if its ur ECU just shutting of your fuel injectors??? any thoughts on that one guys???

it will shut off for no apparent reason if you're low on gas. it will also be harder to start with normal cranking speeds but a no start condition. try filling up the tank to the max and keep it above half. see if the problem stops after that. i know this might be obvious to most of you but some people haven't experienced the experience of running out of gas.

sorry i never reposted on here. i found out what was causing it. on of the boots on the spark plug wasnt fully on it. so i guss it was getting a bad connection of some sort, so all is well now.

I had this same problem on my 91 Turbo. Turned out to be a bad Pressure Exchange Solenoid. Read 2.5MegaOhms. Worth a shot

I have never liked that the coil pack is tapered where you plug the wires in and the boot on the wires never seem to be in good at the pack. Everytime I have the hood open I push all four wires into the coilpack to make sure they are in all the way.
still not workin please help this is getting anoying

May want to also check MAF sensor. I had issues where the car would stall/lose power while driving.
