crappy idle could be so many things, it really sucks to diagnose, you just have to go through the steps. I couldn't figure out why my car sucked at idling, it was throwing all kinds of CEL's for the MAF, o2 sensor, and knock sensor. I did a leak-down test and found out I had a broken valve.

I would suggest check all the engine electronics. i.e the TPS, MAF sensor, IAC, coil pack, ignitor.

Check for vacuum leaks, crappy plug wires, or old spark plugs to.

If everything looks good electronically then you might want to do a leakdown test to see if there is anything internally wrong.

Try harder with your searches, you will find the info. You aren't the first to have a crappy running ej22t ;)

thanks for you help, its not that the car runs crappy all the time just when it runs on vacuum pressure for a long time.

yeah, mine would run fine during normal driving, but if i stopped it would idle ok for about 5 seconds then just stumble and fall on its face. When the valve transitioned from merely cracked to broken it ran like crap all the time.

LOL BOB SAGGET! Welcome to the automotive diagnostic world, you have 2 choices; make enough money to have someone else do the work, or find the time to do it yourself ;)

If you need resistance/voltage values for the various sensors and can't find them I might be willing to crack open my stack of legacy FSM's and get you the specs.
