Transmission problems? Help if you can!

Ive been getting a problem for the past two days.
When i am backing up, i have to give the car gas to get it to go, especially when im in a turn. When i park the car it seems normal until i shut it off, then it lurches forward. When im going forward and i turn hard, it makes a slow thumping noise (not a CV noise) that seems to be coming either directly underneath me or towards the rear of the car. Has anyone had this problem, or do you know what it is?
Thanks!

Search for :

"torque bind" and maybe "duty solenoid"

You'll have hours of interesting reading material.

Definitely torque bind. Usual way to test if it is savagable without tearing apart is putting the FWD fuse in place (on the passenger side top mount there is a fuse folder that says FWD) and see if the problem still occurs. Usually if that doesn't work the solenoid has failed. You can also do a transmission fluid change a few times until it goes away (cheaper then getting a flush and safer).

so, just flushed the tranny 3 times. Im about to pull my hair out. It seems worse than ever, and when im making a slight turn going forward, the right rear axle makes a weird pinging noise (like a plastic cup getting stepped on) and backing up the car stops unless i give it gas. I dont know if im gonna need a new tranny, differential, or what?

Please help. I am about to get rid of my car if i cant get it back up and running soon.

See what happens usually is the solenoid fails and when it fails it will lock up your AWD so when you turn it can't allow the front and rear wheels to spin at different speed, therefore it will bind up. It is like a 4x4 truck if you put it in 4x4 it is difficult to turn. Still did you try the fwd fuse?

I actually have been having some symptoms very similar to these when parking after 30min+ driving. Problem is, I have a 5MT!

That sucks try driving in a tight circle hopefully it will unbind itself.

I took it out for a few mile drive. Its making a weird popping noise in what sounds like the rear driver wheel. could it be a problem with my rear axle?

yeah I have torque bind. Every once and awhile the power light won't blink on startup. I get no torque bind until after a few tight turns. I'm running auto-rx in the trans now. Got 400 miles left on the clean phase, then I'm draining all fluid, changing both filters, refilling, and flushing.
