Ok i'm asking for a friend who has a stroked 2.2 with a 2.5 crank. We've noticed that there is a split when looking and clutch/flywheel kits between 05 and 06 wrx kits. Anyone know why, is it just the diameter of the parts, power output of the engines? and yes i've searchen on bbs and google. Anyhelp would be great

Turbo tranmissions thru '05 used a pull-type clutch. '06 and newer Turbo transmissions went to a push-type.

Each has it's own flywheel and clutch kits.

In short....the clutch needs to match the transmission. No need to worry about the motor, as all EJ cranks are the same as far a flywheels are concerned.

Yea I feel like a dope, I only work on these cars for a living, lol. I actually ment the difference between the 02 and 03 WRX's, I realized my fault while laying in bed last night going SH*T i'm an idiot. But it seems to me there was a difference in the pre october 02 build date clutches, something like the friction disk size like I said. Just cant remember where I saw it, and my buddy doesn't want to drop $1500 on a clutch (Exedy twin plate) and have it be incompatable. I'm 99% sure this kit will work with the integrated flywheel, the question is more of a " I remember reading about this and now it's driving me nuts because I can't find it" sort of thing. Again thanks for any help.

The '03 had a fix for a clutch chatter issue on the '02s.

As far as aftermarket/replacement clutchs are concerned, '02 and '03 are the same.
