Sorry to be off topic here but how do you tell which version heads you have? I have a set of JDM DOHC heads but don't know which version they are and I've asked the guy who I got them from twice which ones they are and he never responded. Although he responded to other pm's....

If the cams push directly on big round discs then they are WRX.

If the cams push on small, squarish pad/rockers and those, in turn, push on the valvestems they are Legacy.

I have been told they are Legacy heads, although I am not certain.

it runs the shimless buckets so I assume they are WRX heads :)

So the only way to tell is to take off the valve covers and look at the rocker assembly?

No, there are other clues. I'll try and post pics tonight, after work.

Another quick one to check...One bolt holding the coil down is WRX. Two bolts holding the coil is Legacy.

Which one is better?

The WRX heads.

They have a newer HLA setup that allows you to rev slightly higher without floating a valve and a smaller combustion chamber that raises the compression ratio higher than the older style Legacy heads which gives you better low-end.

And if you want to... you can swap out the valve train from 98 Legacy GT heads and have a completely solid lifter assembly... Or so Dave tells me.

Cause I bought the car, and the short block from him...I never have figured out why he decided to get rid of it all...but I do believe he still has the heads/intake.

Quick question, after bolting these onto a EJ22T bock, they are to say the least plug and play as far as sensors go?
