well the word touge, means "pass". generally referring to a mountain pass. its a two car race from point A to B. there are different types of touge too. depending on what you want.

cat and mouse: two cars line up, one in front and one is in back. the car in the front has to build a gap away from the car fallowing, if this is accomplished the car in front wins. but, if the car fallowing keeps the gap the same as it was from the start of the race. the car in the back wins. IF the car in front is passed during the race. the car passing automatically wins. after the race, cars will switch places. the car that was fallowing is now in the lead, applying the same rules. races are ether up hill or down hill.

Straight up: this is where the cars line up side by side if the road is wide enough. cars will make there place depending witch one is faster in the beginning of the race. this too is an A to B race. but witch ever car passes the finish line first, wins. if one car has a handicap, because of less horsepower. both cars will start the race at a roll up untill the first corner. races are ether up hill or down hill

AND dont asume that in a touge racing you have to drift. in witch you dont have too. drifting is just a style of driving. but im sure if you have two very good drifters they could do a drift touge. lol

Touge racing: mountain road racing from Japan that translates to higher insurance rates in America

I think it would be highly unlikely to get a good match of driver skills and car capabilities. How many pictures have you seen of wrecked cars on twisty roads? But if it was organized and worked out, it would be awesome.

it shouldn't be that hard to find a good match. one of my friends has been in touge racing for a while but i just never go. but now that im starting to look into it im asking around. just cause you see a picture of a recked car dont asume its from racing UNLESS it says it is lol. people crash all the time over stuipd stuff.

Oh, jeezus this is Best Motoring Video stuff! Come on children! Those are closed roads!!!

So, no, I don't think there is any of that stuff...That's not real, it's staged...

But if you do want a thrill on a closed road there's something called a Hillclimb. Woah! No fancy Japanese word for it...

http://www.nhahillclimb.org/

I'm planning to do at least the Bible Creek event next year - Larrison Rock if the price of gas cooperates.

Please don't Gymkata or whatever on open roads...

Cheers,
AW

Ok everyone needs to go rent the movie Initial D.
Seriously.

It's about togue. I thought it would be stupid, but it's actually pretty awesome. It's Japanese made so you know the cars in it are awesome, but you will have to do some subtitle reading.

after watching the show and the anime. plus going out and trying it. my whole aspect of racing and driver skill has changed dramatically.

if you want to try a race that proves mostly driver skill. find a good opponent and touge race down hill. you'll never forget it.

My point: please avoid crashing Subarus.

Initial D-style battles are fun to think about, but I wouldn't trust most people on the road to drive that close to me. I'd be better to form some sort of organization and do recognized events, like Adam's link. That would take the illegal thrill out of it, which may be appeal to some.

so last night was pretty crazy. we had around 15 240sx's down there. total of about 20 cars. long story short, the cops got called. me and my friend that was in the car stayed away from the rest of the group. we where just doing practice by our selfs and where the only ones that didnt get cought. it was some crazy stuff.
