Whoops!

All right, scold my lazy ass... I was hearing a valvetrain noise on the way home today, so I checked my oil, and sure enough, I was over a quart low. No oil pressure lights came on or anything...

I am so stupid, b/c I know I'm leaking from the drain plug, since I'm not due for a oil change for another 1k miles, I haven't put a crush washer on it yet...

Did my stupid act of laziness and ignorance damage anything, do you think? I usually run my car a little hard, so I was a little concerned when I noticed this. I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't damage anything, hasn't been the 1st time  !

You're probably fine.......by a quart low....do you mean the oil level was at the L position on the dipstick? It should take about a quart to go from L to F

A little bit below the L, but I put about 2/3 quart in there and it came up to a hair past the H  ... I knew the L-H quart rule, too...

My aunt's Cherokee with the "bulletproof" power-stroke 6 drove around for a few days 5 quarts low w/out the first problem, so I think a "bulletproof" EJ22 should have no problem bein a quart low...

Also, a T100 at work drove maybe 500 miles with virtually no oil... didn't even show up on the dipstick...

hahaha.....that's funny 500 miles.....

If you only put in about 2/3, yeah you should be ok.

If the noise you heard was just the regular subie "I'm low on oil" valve clatter, don't sweat it. that's just your baby's way of letting you know she needs oil. as long as you get some in her fairly soon after you hear the valve clatter and go easy on her in that time, you don't ahve to worry. in my experience at least.
