A buddy and I went to an indoor range last Sunday. That particular range even made it in the world news.

You can rent hand guns there. We tried out a Glock 23, Springfield XDM, and Sig P239 in .40 cal. Just for the hell of it, we tried out a Glock in .45 cal. Those bullets are huge!
Anyway, I ended up picking up the XDM and shotgun to shoot clays and maybe go hunting. I wouldn't really call myself a hunter, but shotguns are fun to go shooting with. The XDM is a really nice gun, comes with A LOT for what you pay, and there's a promo now where you get two additional clips and holder for free.

Gotta love the XD line of pistols. 20K+ round tortue test with ease. I love my 4" Service Model...

Nice. I haven't been able to get out after some whitetails or ring-necks for quite some time. I used to go down to Iowa after pheasants often. Or the northwoods for deer. I miss it.

My uncle's buddy in PA got a black bear a weekend or two ago.
We'll see if I can find a vendor or some friends going hunting. Otherwise, I'll play with the handgun at the range and shoot skeet with the shotgun.

I was at Gander Mountain today oogling at he firearms. I would love to get a nice lightweight semiauto shotgun. The Browning Gold series seems nice. A Benelli would be great, but they are spendy.
Its lame how few options I see for barrel length. I'd rather have a 22"-24" barrel vs the 26-30" ones I see all the time.

That's what I'd probably do when I do eventually get one. My dad has a 22" BPS with an English stock and its the cat's meow for walking all day.

I did look at semi-auto shotguns as well. Most are rather pricey! Remington makes one called the SPR 453 or something like that. It's a derivative of the 870 I believe. Has 3-1/2" cartridge capacity and fits more then your standard 870 also.
A friend of mine has one. They're priced very well. I think between $400 & $500. For a semi-auto shotgun...you really can't touch that price.
Down side I found is nobody carries them. I think it's a relatively new gun.

I have an old Remington 1100 autoloader. I learned to shoot skeet on that scattergun. One of these days I'd like to pick up a decent pistol, I'll have to look into that XD line.
My cop buddies swear by their Glocks, and the one guy who is an ex-MP has an M9 that I put some rounds through. That was pretty nice.
