Looks like i need to replace the speedo cable, as all signs point to it.
I'm getting tired of wobbly RPMs while cruising, late shifts, etc.
Just wondering how hard it is to replace.

Can it be done out in the street with a few tools?

I did mine a long time ago. Took a good 20 minutes. Just need to be able to get your hands up to the speedometer point. Just remove the trim piece below the steering wheel, and get a flash light, you an see the speedo cable coming in, then stick your hand in there and unplug it. When you get a new speedocable from the dealer, comes with the rubber grommet, head shield, rubber cap at the transmission end for only $20-30. Pay attention to how the original speedocable was routed so when you get the new one in its a piece of cake.
