Question about backpressure... kinda

So i picked up 3" turbo back from a local guy. The person that owned it before him cut the muffler off and the 3" pipe off at the axle. It's got a high flow cat and a resonator.

My curiousity is My stock exhaust has an aftermarket muffler on it made my RD Exhaust systems. I'm wondering if i cut this muffler off and welded a reducer on it and went 3" to the muffler from where the 3" exhaust i bought ends, will that weaken power? or will that little bit of back pressure be alright? Im not running any crazy horsepower, just getting ready to put a td04 in and then when i have the money get the revtronix stage 2.

Thanks in advance for opinions.

The cat is more of a restriction than anything else in your exhaust system. Also, if the reducer has a smooth transition, the perforated inner tube of your resonator is more of a restriction than your transition to 2.5" pipe. The muffler, on the other hand, can be ok or not the greatest depending on it's design.

If you aren't going over a TD04, or even pushing a TD04 to it's limits, I wouldn't loose sleep over it.

I could never find any info on the muffler, ive never heard of it, so i honestly don't know if it's poorly built or not.

It's so far down from your engine and with so much other stuff in between that pulse reflection effects should be negligible. I don't think you'd notice any difference either way.

alright, cool. Thanks for the input
