I have a free set of 05 style 5 spoke 17's, However I'm wondering whether they look right on a gen 1 SS.

I dont think they'll work at all...IIRC, '05 and up Leggys have a 5x114.3 bolt pattern instead of 5x100.

I don't believe so. It's the STi that has the 5x114.3, not the legacy.

I think Dusty B was running 2005 factory wheels on his SS, but I'm not entirely sure.

Someone's already done it... and it looked sweet.

Only the STi (05-up) and Tribeca are 5x114.3. All others are 5x100.

That is an OEM STi lip. I don't own a first gen, I was simply trying to help out the original poster who asked to see OEM 5 Spoke 17's on an SS. Search Subaru_Styles, he also has this lip.
