is it ok to buy after market headers for a non turbo car. i am assuming they make headers for the N/A as well, but would there be any reason and would help along with a cat back exhaust

I wish someone made a cheap N/A header for the 2.2L. You can buy decent quality stainless headers for a honda civic for under a $150. None to be found that cheap for a Subie..

Unfortunately, not many people are in the game of hotrodding their N/A subarus. Just not enough demand.
If you went to a newer style exhaust, you could get the borla knock-offs on ebay for fairly cheap.

They'd be more than a Civic anyway—2 heads, longer pipes.

There is a guy selling them for the 2.2L single port heads at rs25.com, here's a link:

Single port headers won't work on our cars. We have the dual port exhaust heads.

Which case there are a few options also. I have a set for my 98 EJ22E that are single-port which I'm having installed tomorrow. MS3 sells them on RS25. A bit pricey, but they're stainless and look pretty good.

If you're looking for a set of dual port EL headers, check out OBX. I think it's around $250 for a set. Cheapish, but not dirt cheap.
I bought some, still sitting in the garage waiting a head/motor swap into the OBW and then they'll get installed.
Pretty nice quality, S/S, decent welds. Overall I've been very happy with them for not having them installed yet.

Yes, any pre-95 EJ22E should be dual-port.
Interested in equal-length?
