I am planning on replacing the rear 3.90 open differential on my 93 SS with a 3.90 VLSD from the 91 SS and read somewhere on the web that the rear axle half-shafts for the 4EAT and 5MT were a different length, which would mean that I would have to replace the rear differential and the half-shafts too. Can someone please help me out with this one? Thanks, Bez

There is a left-vs-right, but would be surprised that it's different for the 4eat vs. 5speed....i'll have to look into that.

IIRC, the half-shafts are actually the same between LSD and non-LSD.

If you drive out the roll-pin before pulling the axles, and leave the stub shafts inside the diff, then you can use your non-LSD axles on your LSD diff.
